MATTHEW P. STEVENS, the founder of Support Services Consultants LLC provides at-risk tools for youth ages 13 through adult with critical thinking and decision-making skills necessary for healthy life decisions.
This author, presenter, youth counselor and freshman college advisor has had a life-long passion for empowering today’s youth.
His comprehensive Youth Empowerment Program provides a Behavioral Modification Curriculum for parents, teachers, counselors and administrators in both the public and private sectors to support the needs of their At-risk youth.

Teaching/Counseling
Kean University, Academic Advisor/Counselor2001-Present
- Responsible for the design of curriculum and training of instructors in the area of affective education for at-risk college students
- Teach two classes weekly that focus on helping students make the transition from high school to college and career development
- Provide personal, financial and academic counseling for a case load of 150 students in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences
- Sited by supervisor as highly competent in all areas during 5 year professional review and evaluation
University of Medicine and Dentistry, Program Coordinator
1993-1998
- Founded the Male Student Support Program, through the Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine, to increase academic performance, decrease at-risk behaviors and enhance parental involvement of minority male adolescent students (Grades 6-8)
- Incorporated program and curriculum into the Orange, New Jersey public school system (middle and high schools)
- Hired, trained and supervised teachers to conduct the program during the school day in five different locations, servicing over 100 students
- Demonstrated consistent student progress in the areas of academic performance, behavior modification and parental involvement for five straight years
Events Planning
Kean University Male Student Empowerment Conference
2004-Present
- Founded and currently managing an annual event designed to improve performance of male students ages 12-24 (Middle School – College)
- Successfully supervise committees in the following areas: marketing, speaker recruitment, conference coordination and evaluation
- Coordinate the safe and efficient movement of 1000 adolescent males, to 20 different locations, 4 times throughout the day
- Raised $80,000 each year through grant writing, sponsorship and in-kind service solicitation
- Conference recognized as one of the most successful male conferences in the United States
City of Newark, United States Youth Games
July 2001
- Managed a 7-day Olympic style youth sporting event that included 15 different sports, congregations from 15 cities, and 1500 people
- Supervised committee assignments that focused on housing, meals, transportation, security and competitive sport competition.
- Coordinated the use of facilities and services at 4 universities, public and private schools, local and State police, emergency health care services, recreational and cultural establishments
- Raised over $100,000 through corporate sponsorship and in-kind services
- Noted by the National Youth Games Committee as the most successful youth games competition in the 35 year history of the games
Management
City of Newark Department of Recreation, Manager
1998-2001
- Managed a staff of 200 employees responsible for the facilitation of recreational services for the largest city in the State of New Jersey
- Supervised daily coordination activities with the public school system, religious based organizations, and local community groups
- Served as the official spokes person for the City in the area of recreational services
- Designed and coordinated a comprehensive city wide recreation plan to include recreational centers, city pools, parks, playgrounds and community based institutions
- Increased and improved citizen services in the areas of youth sports, cultural affairs and senior activities
